Self-care as a spiritual practice and getting intentional for 2020.

Posted by Shannon Chappelle on

I hope you take some time for a little quiet reflection before 2020 begins. If we don't know where we are going, how will we get there?

The spa industry introduced me to holistic self-care that followed paths like the practice of Ayurveda and how I could get rid of my acne through diet. Ten years into my esthetic career, I became a certified yoga instructor and made a more serious commitment to my meditation practice. I'm grateful for these life building tools.

I've hired many coaches and experts over the last 25 years, but my best insights, ideas, wants, and deep desires always come to me in the quiet moments I have to myself.

You are your best guide and guru. The trick is getting there so you can hear what you have to say.

What I am most inspired by what I have created with Spa Chappelle is that we have built a space for women to find their peace and well-being.

The stress, busy and chaos is not who we are; it's just our reaction to life.

So what do you want for 2020? And how will you make it happen?

Here are a few things I do when I am creating what I want.

1. I get intentional. What is my WHY behind my desires?

2. Words are powerful; I like to choose at least three and run them through what I am manifesting for the year. I'm choosing FREEDOM, PEACE, and CONNECTION this year. Freedom represents more time and space to do the things I love doing and to spend more quality time with the people I love. Peace, for me, is a word that makes me feel grounded, it's a knowing that all is well and all will be well. Life is just too precious and beautiful to stress about the little things anymore. The connection is me wanting to feel the best I possibly can so that I can show up in the fullness of who I truly am and serve my family and community.

3. I want to be my healthiest. I know this decade is asking for even more undivided attention when it comes to what my bodies need for food, sleep, and exercise.

So I am hitting the reset button, I booked my yearly solo trip to get away to a Spa Detox Retreat! And I have taken a deeper dive into what my body and hormones need for nutrition and exercise right now.

I'm listening to YOUNGER, A Breakthrough program to reset your genes, reverse aging and turn back the clock 10 years by Sara Gottfried, M.D.

And I am quite enjoying it, this book is definitely aligned with my eating and wellbeing principles.

Food is adding to your life or taking it away. It's that simple.

There is so much information out there, keto, vegan, raw, paleo, whole 30, it can be overwhelming. You know what is best for your body by the way it makes you feel.

I think getting intentional and organized is half the battle; we know adequate sleep, routine, daily exercise, and more veggies will do the skin, body, and soul good.

My wish for you is that you know by putting yourself first and finding a daily pathway to your light is the greatest gift you can give your world.

You practice filling yourself up first, and the extra goodness is what you will have leftover for others.

It's a beautiful way to live.

I wish you peace, positivity, and prosperity for 2020. I hope you are surrounded by support and love always and that we at Spa Chappelle can be that place for you too.

All my love,

Shannon
